FSView Newspaper
Managing Editor
2017-2019
In January 2017, I started as a Staff Writer in the News section at the FSView & Florida Flambeau. I then was promoted to Deputy News editor, and news editor. During my senior year at Florida State University, I served as the Managing Editor, overseeing 30+ writers and editing content across multiple sections, including News, Arts & Culture, Sports, and Opinion.
I managed weekly article production, ensuring timely publication both in print and online. Collaborating closely with section editors and the Tallahassee Democrat, I helped ensure high-quality content while also handling staff payments and invoices. I adhered to guidelines and training protocol set by the parent companies, The Tallahassee Democrat and the USA Today Network, Gannett Co., Inc.
Beyond Campus Coverage
The FSView is an independent, student-run newspaper located in Tallahassee, FL. Topics ranged from Florida State University campus news and events to national concerns and topics. Because of its affiliation with the Tallahassee Democrat, its parent company, and the broader USA Today Network, the FSView had the opportunity for wider visibility. This connection allowed select articles to be picked up and shared with a national audience. It helped link local events to broader national conversations and issues.
Every Sunday, the editors, Managing Editor, and Editor-In-Chief would meet for hours to edit content to publish on digital channels. Select articles would be chosen for print and typeset accordingly.
Writing
I researched and pitched topics, interviewed students and leaders, photographed events, and adhered to AP Style guidelines.
